Computing

Our computing curriculum empowers pupils to become confident users of technology, developing skills in computer science, programming, and digital systems.

Pupils also learn to express their ideas through ICT, while understanding the importance of online safety and leaving a positive ‘digital footprint.’

Curriculum Intent

Our computing curriculum supports all pupils to become confident, independent users of a range of software and hardware. We understand high-quality computing education equips pupils to use computational thinking and creativity to understand and change the world. The core of computing is computer science, in which pupils are taught the principles of information and computation, how digital systems work, and how to put this knowledge to use through programming. We endeavour to ensure pupils leave Loughborough digitally literate and well prepared for life in the twenty first century.

We appreciate how important it is for pupils to be able to express themselves and develop their ideas through, information and communication technology – at a level suitable for the future workplace and as active participants in a digital world. In order to do this successfully, they must understand how to engage with information technology safely and responsibly. We understand the importance of online safety and place emphasis on the importance of leaving a good ‘digital footprint.’
